Shakespearean song

Pile of sheet music, full frame

So as I mentioned in my last post, I am beginning to brainstorm ideas for writing my song from the viewpoint of a character from one of Shakespeare's plays. I have a few ideas floating around, but I'd love to get some feedback from all of you before I begin writing. Do any of you have suggestions for character viewpoints I should use for this song? Topics I could write about? I'm open for all suggestions! Please, let them come! I'm going to start writing by Wednesday, so if I could get a good cache of ideas to work with by then it would be superb! Juliet? Hermione? Ophelia? Desdemona? Katherina? Romeo? Hamlet? Othello?

I think a song from the point of view of Katherina would be cool. She's a dynamic character with a good sense of humor. Ophelia and Desdemona got to sing in the original plays, though a song from the point of view of a Ophelia either before or after she goes crazy could be fun. Any of the others could be great fun too. Good luck!

after she's crazy. it would be so easy to make it funny.
I think a song by Hamlet would be good. I'm excited to see what you do!

Wow what a genius idea! I wish I had the skills to do this! Good for you! I agree with Johnny but that could just be because I really like Hamlet. Also you should check out Brandon's blog he is working on music and Shakespeare. Could be interesting if you put your heads together!
Well I just read Whitney's blog so I have Jesters or Fools on the mind. That could be a pretty entertaining song because it could be all about how annoying and dumb everyone is acting. You really could choose any fool from any play too.

I agree! A lot of them sing anyway and since they're supposed to comment on the action of the nobles you could make it really satiric and funny.
I really like that idea! we really only hear the "foolish" things that the jesters say, so it would be fun to hear how they really felt about everything going on.
I also think it would be cool if you made a song about Ophelia. She is such an interesting and tragic character that your song could come from many different angles.
